Although it is ideal not to have a hangover, avoid mixing different types of alcohol.
How to cure a hangover this Christmas?
1. Drink plenty of fluids such as water and electrolytes
The most recommended remedy to relieve a hangover is to drink plenty of fluids; the best options may be to drink water or electrolytes.
These liquids help reduce the symptoms of dehydration associated with a hangover after drinking too much.
Some symptoms of a hangover may include dry mouth, dizziness and fatigue.
2. Eat foods rich in fat
Consuming broths made from chicken, shrimp or pork are a great option that can help you recover.
Drinking a significant amount of alcohol can affect your blood sugar levels, which could be the reason why your body craves certain fatty foods during a hangover.
3. Drink coffee
Coffee may “trick” our brain into making us feel better because of the caffeine, which can give you energy to continue enjoying the celebration.
4. Take a bath
Hot water improves blood oxygenation, and it is therefore advisable to bathe with hot water so that the muscles receive more oxygen, which speeds up their recovery and relieves muscle pain that can be caused by a hangover.
However, if you prefer to bathe with cold water, it is not a bad option, but it will only serve to wake you up.
5. Take aspirin or ibuprofen
According to specialists, these medications do not cure a hangover, but aspirin and ibuprofen are recommended to effectively combat one of its main symptoms, which is a headache.
It is advisable not to take paracetamol if you have a hangover, because it is bad for the liver.
