The Organizing Committee of the Puerto de Veracruz Half Marathon officially presented the shirt and medal that, in this eighteenth edition, are inspired by the Huaca neighborhood, an emblematic place in the city that was created more than three centuries ago.
At a press conference, the general coordinator, Rodolfo Velásquez Pacheco, announced that everything is ready for the race to take place, which generates an economic impact in the metropolitan area of close to 45 million pesos, according to studies carried out by the University of Veracruz.
“There is a study that the Faculty of Physical Education did us the favor of carrying out a few years ago with direct surveys of people who have come in previous editions, where each runner comes with a family and we are talking about 3-4 people, so the economic impact that we are going to have in relation to the number of runners is close to 45 million, each family has been spending around 10 thousand pesos.”
Velásquez Pacheco extended the invitation to all athletes, associations, and teams from the country and abroad to participate, recalling that there is a limited quota of 4 runners in their different categories, so he urged all runners to register, with the deadline being January 500, 20, one day before the competition.

The general coordinator, along with the group of invited authorities, agreed that the Puerto de Veracruz Half Marathon, which has almost half a century of history, is the most emblematic and joyful endurance foot race in the world, taking place on the boulevard that includes the municipalities of Veracruz and Boca del Río, facing the Gulf of Mexico.
For his part, the Veracruz artist Armando Riesk, creator of the award and print of the jersey to be given in this 2024 half marathon, said he was grateful for the trust given to him by the organizing committee, which served to find inspiration for the result, by identifying himself as part of his own neighborhood and its people.
Victor Manuel Paz Cinta, technical and logistics coordinator, confirmed that the categories will remain the same and that there is a profile for people over 70 years of age, which gives senior citizens the opportunity to continue to stimulate themselves in the sporting and competitive field.
He also recalled that there is an absolute prize of 50 thousand, 40 thousand and 30 thousand pesos, in addition to an extra bonus of 50 thousand pesos for whoever breaks the record, making a total prize pool of 360 thousand pesos in all categories.
The presentation to the media took place at the Best Western Plus Riviera Veracruzana, the official hotel hosting the event, where in addition to the General Coordinator and the technical-logistics coordinator, Alejandro Gómez Figueroa, Director of the Faculty of Physical Education, Sports and Recreation of the Universidad Veracruzana (UV), Ernesto López Mondragón, Director of Sports Promotion of the municipality of Boca del Río and Antonio Salvatori Arjona, Director of Sports Promotion of the Port of Veracruz, were also present.
It should be noted that the MMPV will take place this coming January 21, 2024 at 6:30 in the morning, starting from M. Ávila Camacho Boulevard almost at the corner of Costa Verde, to conclude at the athletics track of the Faculty of Physical Education of the UV.
